84 golfers took part in the Senior’s Open, June 13th, a 4BBB STABLEFORD.

Winners (£100 each) were Paul Mayman from Hanging Heaton and Patrick Bourke from Woodhall Hills with 47 points including a remarkable 26 points on the back nine.

Second, with 43 points and a back six of 16 points, were Martin Birchall and David Riley from Chorley Golf Club.  They won £75 each

Third place with the same 43 points (back 6 of 14 points) were David Bates and Martin Hill from Darlington Golf Club who both won £50.

Fourth place, with 40 points ( back nine of 24 points) were Paul Skelly and John Strickland from Denton near Wigan winning £25 each.

The rain, fortunately, held off until mid afternoon allowing most golfers to stay dry.  The winners, late starters, didn’t seem to mind getting a bit wet though!!

Skipton’s  reputation as a fine golf course is growing, evidenced by the distance people are prepared to travel to get here.  Great credit for this must go to the greens staff and recent improvements in the catering offering are already earning positive comments.

The next Senior’s Open is September 12th and places are selling out fast so, If you want to play, you need to book now.
