On Course Foundation

On the 13th June we held our annual charity event on behalf of the On Course Foundation, organised by long standing Skipton Golf Club member, David Rasche.

On Course Foundation supports the recovery of wounded, injured and sick Service personnel and veterans through golf.

Their mission is to build confidence and self-belief in their Members through golf skills and employment events, and set them on the path to meaningful employment opportunities in the golf industry.

As a sport, golf offers a unique platform where players of all skills and backgrounds can compete healthily, improving not only their physical but mental strength too. With many lacking self- belief, it’s their aim to help their Members realise their potential and set them on a fulfilling career path.

Please see note below from David Rasche:

I wanted to drop you a personal note to thank you very much for your part in making our charity day such a success.

Sixteen business teams and fourteen individuals took part on a nice warm day at Skipton, at least until the last 6 holes when the downpour started! Next time I will let Bob Beckett choose the date so he can’t blame me for the weather! The course was in excellent condition and everyone enjoyed themselves despite getting wet.

The evening meal was again very well received with the vast majority of players staying for the dinner, auction and prizes. There was much good humoured banter during a very successful auction for holidays in South Africa, driving an Aston DBR1 replica and a Porsche round their track, as well as golf days at Gleneagles, Royal St Georges, Prince’s, The Warren and Royal Blackheath.

The first prizes of large Lewis & Cooper hampers were won by Ellis furniture team from Huddersfield.

Twenty playing teams provided £12,600 in entry fees and another £1,400 for nearest the pin and hit the green. We raised another £11,700 on the night from generous bids in the auction with another £1,750 in donations, giving us an approximate total of £27,250. With costs in the region of £2,500 this takes us very close to our £25,000 target and one of our best fund raising years.

Thank you again to everyone who played, donated prizes or funds and to all who helped on the day. I hope we will be able to do it again next year in the Yorkshire sunshine!

Very kind regards
