A mixed day weather wise with a mixture of sun, rain, hail and snow. 100 golfers were entered. The early starters got the best of the conditions with the winners being first out and the second pair coming from the second group. Winners with a score of 49 points, after 27 points on the front line, were regulars Alan Coughlan and Dave Attwood from the Manor Golf Club. Second place, with 48 points, were George Rutherford and Allan Parker from Gotts Park Golf Club in Leeds. Their score was boosted by 2 two's on the back nine. Third with 43 points, after a count back, were Vincent Rose and Peter Morris from Crosland Heath who just beat Martin Wane and Ray Swales from Barnard Castle and Romanby, both in N.E.England.
Two friendlies at home this week brought two hard fought victories. The 4-2 win against Bedale was not quite enough to compensate for the loss at Bedale and the newly acquired Skipdale trophy headed back up the A1. Similarly, Skipton's 3-2 victory against Shipley Beckfoot meant the visitors still took the tie on aggregate. Both visiting teams commented on the excellent condition of the course. The final match of this season is away at Ripon on Thursday next where we are defending a narrow lead.
