Captain’s Day Skipton Golf Club Captain Steve Clayton held his annual competition for both the men’s and ladies’ sections recently. Top of the pile in men’s division one was up and coming junior golfer Ben Topper with 41 points just ahead of Alastair Woodhead. Division two was a closer contest with Richie Forrest on 39 points taking first place after a countback with another junior Harry Ayrton. The winners of each ladies’ division respectively were Gillian Brown, Pat Eaton and Kay Donoghue. Bradford Team Championship The Skipton outfit of Matt Ryder, Chris Payne, Rob Nesbitt and Max Berrisford secured 4th place in the Bradford Team Qualifying medal at Cleckheaton last week. Matt Ryder was the standout performer with the best gross score on the day of 71. The team now qualifies for the finals to be held in July. A particular mention should go to Robert who didn’t score too well on the 9th hole at Cleckheaton but who showed the resolve and metal to not let it bother him too much and finished strongly. Well done team! Ladies’ Team Matches The A Team were back in action against Headingley on Monday. On what was described as a lovely course and very enjoyable rounds, the team played some excellent golf but were unfortunately beaten on the day 6-1. However, they will be out for revenge next Wednesday when they return for the home leg. Good Luck Ladies! The B team managed a 5 to 2 home win against Ilkley this week in revenge for a similar win by Ilkley on their home course. Rabbits Last Sunday, the in-form player, Jason Titorenko and Matthew Oxley played at Bradford Moor Golf Club in the BDRGA Chippendale Trophy. [...]
